Shopping in Lancaster is a delightful experience, with quaint shops, boutiques, and local artisan markets.

Outlet shopping is my favorite so of course that is where I spend most of my time. Lancaster, PA, is home to two popular outlet malls: Tanger Outlets and The Shops @ Rockvale. These shopping destinations offer a wide selection of brand-name stores at discounted prices. Tanger Outlets features over 70 stores like Nike, Coach, and J.Crew, while The Shops @ Rockvale includes outlets like Loft and VF Outlet. These malls provide a great shopping experience for visitors looking to score deals while exploring the area. (The one store I will always go to at The Shops @ Rockvale is Reading Glass and China…Its a foodies dream!)

One of Lancaster’s most iconic experiences is a ride on the Strasburg Rail Road, the oldest operating railroad in America. The train ride takes you on a peaceful journey through the heart of Amish country, offering stunning views of rolling farmlands and quaint rural scenes.

The vintage steam train does offers several seating options, from open-air cars to luxurious first-class compartments, so whether you’re in the mood for fresh air or a more refined experience, there’s a perfect seat waiting for you. We buy our tickets in advance and always ride in the parlor car. (It has air conditioning and food) The ride is a calming experience, allowing you to disconnect and take in the beauty of Lancaster’s countryside at your own pace.
